Refuge Scarpon

Rifugio Scarpon sits at 2,550m on the eastern flank of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo massif in the Veneto Dolomites. Most hikers approach from Auronzo di Cadore, a 3-hour trek via the Sorau valley that gains 1,200m steadily through larch forest and alpine meadow. The hut sits astride the Tre Cime high route—the natural hub for climbers and ridge walkers tackling the surrounding peaks and via ferratas.

The rifugio holds 24 beds split across 7 private rooms, ranging from doubles to larger family configurations. Half-board is standard: evening meals feature local Veneto cooking and polenta, breakfast is typical Italian style. Water comes from spring sources; showers are available. The hut operates year-round but is busiest June to September and during Easter week. Winter access requires mountain skills and snowshoe competence.
