Zsigmondy-Comici Hütte sits at 2,224m in the Sexten Dolomites above Cortina d'Ampezzo. Reach it from Passo Ghedina (2,121m) in 1.5 hours via the marked trail that climbs steeply through larch forest then opens onto alpine meadow. The hut stands above Lago di Sorapis, the turquoise glacial lake that dominates views from the terrace. Most hikers arrive from the Cortina side, but you can also approach from the Tre Croci pass to the north.
The hut accommodates 80 people in dorm rooms and private doubles. Meals are solid—expect hearty pasta, schnitzel, and local specialities like casunziei (Dolomite ravioli). They serve a proper breakfast. The bar stocks Italian wines and grappa. Water comes from the mountain spring. The hut operates year-round but is quietest in November and April. Winter access requires Alpine experience and avalanche awareness.
Book directly with the hut by email or phone, especially for July and August when the terrace fills by mid-morning. Weekends are busy all season. Half-board (bed plus dinner and breakfast) costs around €75–95 per person depending on room type. The hut lies on the Alta Via 1 hiking route, so expect more traffic in September.
