Rifugio Lavaredo

Rifugio Lavaredo sits at 2,345m in the Dolomites, accessed via the Tre Cime di Lavaredo circuit. Most hikers approach from Auronzo di Cadore (1,320m) in 2.5–3 hours, following the well-marked trail through alpine meadows and limestone terrain. The final approach gains elevation steadily but remains non-technical. You can also reach the hut from Misurina or via the longer ridge routes if you're linking multiple peaks.

The rifugio holds around 80 beds across simple dormitory and private rooms. Meals are basic but adequate: hearty half-board dinners, substantial breakfasts, and packed lunches available on request. Hot showers work when water supply permits. The hut stays open June through September, closing in shoulder months due to snow and ice access. Mobile signal is patchy but adequate for emergencies. The location makes it ideal for Tre Cime sunrise hikes and multi-day Dolomite traverses.

Book 8–10 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Call ahead to confirm current conditions and water availability, especially in early June. The hut fills quickly during peak season and school holidays. Weekday visits in June or September offer far better availability and quieter trails around the famous trio of peaks.
