Hut na Hleviški Planini

Koča na Hleviški Planini sits at 818m on Hleviška Planina, a high pasture in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The hut is a base for walking the rolling ridges and visiting nearby peaks including Grintovec (2,558m). Reach it from Kamniška Bistrica valley in 2–3 hours on marked trails; most hikers park at Črni vrh and walk uphill through beech forest then open meadow. The location works well for circuits combining Hleviška Planina with neighbouring ridges, or as part of longer traverses through the Kamnik Alps.
The hut is run by PZS and sleeps around 40 people in simple dormitory rooms. The kitchen provides hot meals if you book ahead; bring your own food if arriving outside service hours. Water comes from a spring. There is no WiFi. The hut opens year-round but staffing varies seasonally—check before visiting in winter or shoulder months. Conditions can be wet and muddy in spring and autumn.
Book directly with the hut operator through PZS (Planinska zveza Slovenije) at least two weeks before your visit, especially for weekends and July–August. Hleviška Planina fills quickly in summer. The hut sits on a main walking corridor, so arrive early in the day to secure a place on busy weekends. Most visitors stay one night; few use it as a base for longer trips, so you will rarely find it crowded mid-week in shoulder season.
