The hut has 23 beds split across several rooms. Meals are available on weekends and weekdays during summer season. Hot showers work when the hut is staffed. The building is simple and functional—expect basic Alpine hut conditions, not comfort. PZS (Planinska zveza Slovenije) maintains the hut through the Železniki local hiking club, PD za Selško dolino Železniki. The hut operates from May through October, with extended hours in July and August.
Book ahead by phone, especially for weekends and July–August. The hut fills quickly on Saturdays when local hikers head out from Ljubljana. Call a day or two before if you're arriving mid-week. Arrive before dark if you have no booking—the caretaker may accommodate walk-ins if space exists, but don't rely on this. The hut serves as a base for circuits around Ratitovec and links to longer valley traverses through Selška dolina.
