Miškova Hiša

Miškova Hiša sits at 1,454m in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, above the village of Solčava in northeastern Slovenia. The hut anchors routes through some of the range's most demanding terrain. From Solčava village (about 30km northeast of Kamnik), allow 2.5 hours to reach the hut on foot. The approach climbs steeply but stays on marked PZS trails. In winter and during snowmelt, the route becomes technical—crampons and ice axe skills are standard. Most parties also approach via multi-day traverses from adjacent huts like Koča na Gozdu or Staničev dom.

The hut operates year-round and sleeps 44 people in shared rooms. The kitchen serves hearty meals on demand; bring cash. Water comes from a reliable spring. Basic facilities include heating and electric light. The hut is staffed regularly during summer and weekends; outside peak season, phone ahead to confirm occupancy and hot food availability. Winter access requires mountain sense—avalanche risk exists on approach slopes, and PZS does not staff the hut during extended snow periods.

Book 2-3 months ahead for July and August. Contact PZS directly or use the alpine-huts.com booking system. Winter parties should call the custodian beforehand to confirm conditions and staffing. The hut fills quickly during school holidays and weekends when Ljubljana climbers head for the Savinja valley.
