Planinska Hut na Krimu

Planinska Koča na Krimu sits at 1,107m on the slopes of Krim in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, above the village of Komenda near Ljubljana. The hut makes a logical base for day hikes across the range and sits on established PZS walking routes. Most hikers approach from Komenda (allow 2.5–3 hours uphill) or link it into longer ridge traverses. The location puts you close enough to Ljubljana to make weekend trips viable, but far enough into the mountains to feel properly remote.

The hut operates year-round and accommodates around 40 people in mixed dormitory rooms. A small kitchen provides hot meals and basic supplies; book your dinner in advance, especially weekends. The hut has water from a spring, basic heating, and a simple refuge atmosphere—expect functional rather than luxurious. PZS members get reduced rates on accommodation and meals. The hut serves as a natural overnight stop for walkers tackling the broader Julian Alps or continuing into the Kamnik range.

Contact the hut directly by phone to book beds and meals. Peak weekends (May–September) fill quickly; reserve at least 1–2 weeks ahead. July and August can be busy with Slovenian families. Winter conditions on approach routes may require snow sense or crampons—check conditions with PZS before setting out in colder months. The hut caretaker has good knowledge of current trail conditions and longer route options in the range.
