Planinski Stan na Belski Planini

Planinski Stan na Belski Planini sits on Belska Planina, a high pasture in the Julian Alps at 1698m. Reach it from the village of Kranjska Gora: take the trail to Planica, then follow marked paths southeast toward Belska Planina. The hut lies roughly 4 hours' hiking from Kranjska Gora. Access is also possible from the Dovje side, adding about 1 hour to that approach. Snow can block routes from November through April, so check conditions before heading up.
This small, basic hut operated by PZS provides simple shelter with capacity for around 20 people. Meals are available—expect hearty Slovenian fare—but availability varies by season. The hut has no electricity or running water, so standards are utilitarian. It operates year-round, though staffing is unpredictable in winter months. Bring a sleeping bag; bedding may not be provided. The location makes it useful as a base for summer ridge traverses, ascents of nearby peaks, or as a mid-route shelter on longer hut-to-hut itineraries in the Julian Alps.
Ring ahead before visiting. Contact the PZS directly or check their website for current opening dates and staffing. The hut is lightly used compared to major alpine huts, so you'll often find space even in July. Water comes from a spring; carry treatment options if concerned. This is mountain shelter, not resort accommodation.
