Bivouac pod Skuto na Malih Podih

Bivak pod Skuto na Malih Podih sits at 2,045m on Mali Podi, a high meadow on the eastern slope of Skuto in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Reach it from the Kamniško Sedlo pass road by hiking 2–2.5 hours northwest across open terrain. The approach is straightforward once you're at the pass, with good paths and minimal technical difficulty. This is a working base for ascents of Skuto (2,532m) and access to the high ridge traverse of the eastern Kamnik Alps.
The bivouac is a simple mountain refuge run by PZS, with 10 beds in a basic structure. It offers drinking water from a local spring and cooking facilities where you can prepare your own meals—bring food. There is no staffed service or meals provided. The hut opens year-round in principle, though winter access depends on snow and weather; contact before you go in the off-season. It's functional shelter for mountaineers and ridge walkers, not a comfortable tourist hut.
Book through PZS (Planinska zveza Slovenije). Winter or peak summer dates (July–August) can fill weeks ahead, so contact them 4–6 weeks in advance if you're planning July or August travel. Check current conditions and water availability before arrival, especially in late summer or dry periods. Mobile signal is unreliable at 2,045m.
