Lodge na Kofcah

Dom na Kofcah sits at 1488m in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, making it a logical base for ridge walking and day hikes across this accessible range. The hut stands on the Kofce plateau, roughly 2 hours from the village of Kamnik on foot. Most hikers approach via the marked trail from Kamnik through beech and spruce forest. The location puts you within reach of several peaks including Ojstrica (1678m) and trails toward Mrzla Planina. The plateau itself offers open walking and good views toward the Kamnik Alps to the north.
Dom na Kofcah operates as a simple mountain refuge run by PZS. It has capacity for around 50 people in bunk rooms. Meals are available (book ahead), and the hut provides basic sleeping arrangements and a common room. Water comes from a nearby spring. The hut opens year-round but is most reliably staffed April through October; winter visits require advance notice to the caretaker. This is working mountain hut territory, not a hotel—expect solid food, a dry bed, and good company rather than comfort.
Book accommodation directly with the hut 1–2 weeks ahead for weekends in July and August. Outside peak season, you can usually find space with a few days' notice. Contact through PZS or ring ahead to confirm the caretaker is present. The hut attracts local hikers and families, so summer weekends fill quickly.
