Lodge Ušte - Žerenk

Dom Ušte – Žerenk stands at 658m on the eastern slopes of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, in the Savinja Valley near Žerenk village. The hut sits at the start of several day-hike routes into the surrounding hills and forest. From Žerenk village (accessible by car from the towns of Mozirje or Nazarje), the walk to the hut takes roughly 30–45 minutes. This is a low-altitude hut, making it ideal for early-season hiking or as a base for exploring the foothills before committing to higher-altitude routes.

The hut is small and simple, typical of PZS-managed mountain lodges in the region. It offers basic accommodation and serves meals to guests and day-hikers. The season typically runs from spring through autumn, though you should confirm opening dates before traveling. Facilities are modest but functional. From here, walkers can reach nearby ridges and peaks in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps within 2–4 hours, or use it as an overnight stop on longer traverses of the eastern foothills.

Contact the PZS or Savinjska Turistična Zveza (Savinja Tourist Association) for current opening hours, bed availability, and meal reservations. The hut is rarely fully booked, so advance booking is not essential outside July and August. In summer months, arrive before 17:00 to guarantee a meal. Call ahead if planning to visit outside standard opening hours.
