About

There is no overnight accommodation at Okrešelj. The original Frischaufov dom burned down in November 2019 and has not been rebuilt. What stands on the site today is a small wooden cabin, staffed only at weekends and holidays, and only in good weather with safe avalanche conditions. The keeper serves limited food and drink — you cannot sleep here.

Plan accordingly: Okrešelj is a magnificent glacial cirque at 1,396 m beneath the north walls of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps, roughly an hour's climb from the Rinka Falls car park in the Logar Valley, and it remains well worth the walk as a day objective. But if you need a bed, the nearest lodging is Dom planincev v Logarski dolini down in the valley, and the Slovenian Alpine Association (PZS) lists it as the alternative for exactly this reason.

A replacement hut is under construction. Until it opens, treat Okrešelj as a daytime stop on the way to Kamniško sedlo or the Savinja's source, not as a place to stay. Check the PZS hut page before setting out — the cabin is closed far more often than it is open.
