Karawanks

The Karawanks (Karavanke) are a 120 km limestone range on the border between Slovenia and Austria, running from the Italian tripoint east to Uršlja gora. The main ridge carries the frontier for much of its length; the highest summit is Stol (Hochstuhl, 2,236 m), and Košuta, Begunjščica, Golica and Peca are among the best-known peaks. The huts listed here are on the Slovenian side: Stol and Golica above Jesenice and Žirovnica; Zelenica, Ljubelj and Begunjščica above Tržič; Kofce below Košuta; and Peca, Uršlja gora and their neighbours in the lower eastern Karawanks of Koroška, plus Dom na Paškem Kozjaku near Velenje, which the Slovenian Alpine Association (PZS) also groups with the range.
