Planinska Koča na Pesniku sits at 1,101m on the slopes of Pešnik in the Pohorje range, southeast of Maribor. The hut lies on the PZS-maintained hiking network and is accessible via several valley approaches. The main route from Šmartno pri Litiji takes 3 hours; from Slovenj Gradec allow 4 hours. Mountain bikers can also reach it on marked trails. The location makes it a natural stop on longer Pohorje traverses or a base for day walks in the beech and spruce forest.
The hut has 40 beds across multiple rooms and serves meals daily when staffed. Expect simple, hearty Slovenian food and hot drinks. Basic facilities include an outdoor toilet and water source; there is no WiFi. The hut operates year-round but reliability depends on volunteer staffing, particularly in winter—contact ahead to confirm opening.
