Planinska Hut Velikonočnica

Planinska Koča Velikonočnica sits at 550m in the Boč–Kostrivnica area of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The hut is the starting point for routes into the western valleys and ridges of the range. Access on foot from the village of Kostrivnica takes roughly 1 hour; if you're coming by car, leave your vehicle in the village and walk. The terrain is straightforward hiking, gaining elevation gradually through forest.
The hut offers 30 beds across multiple rooms and serves meals to both guests and day visitors. The kitchen provides traditional Slovenian mountain fare; book meals when you reserve. Water comes from a spring. The hut operates year-round, though staff presence varies outside summer months—contact ahead if visiting in winter or early spring. Facilities are basic: no heating beyond a wood stove, no showers, no electricity in rooms.
Contact the managing club, Planinsko društvo Boč Kostrivnica through the PZS website, or call ahead to confirm availability and arrange meals. July and August are busy; book 4–6 weeks in advance for these months. Weekend visits in spring and autumn also fill up quickly. The hut works well as a base for 2–3 day loops through the Kamnik-Savinja Alps or as an overnight stop on longer ridge traverses.
