Poštarski Lodge pod Plešivcem

Poštarski Dom pod Plešivcem sits at 805m on the western slopes of Pohorje, a long forested ridge that dominates the northeastern Slovenian Alps. The hut is accessible from Maribor or the Pohorje Ski Centre. Most hikers approach from the ski centre car park via marked trails through beech and spruce forest—roughly 1.5 hours on foot. The terrain is rolling rather than steep, making it suitable for families and less experienced walkers. The hut serves as a convenient base for exploring Pohorje's network of marked paths and the higher summits like Večni vrh (1,050m) nearby.
The lodge has capacity for around 30 guests in simple dormitory accommodation. Meals are available: expect local Slovenian fare and hearty portions suitable for hikers. The hut operates year-round, though staffing and services are reduced outside the main walking season (May to October). Winter access depends on snow conditions. Facilities include a common room and basic toilet and washing areas. The atmosphere is straightforward and working-hut rather than polished.
Book directly by phone well ahead for weekends and peak season (July–August). July and August are busy; spring and autumn offer quieter conditions and equally good hiking.
