Berghaus Grindelwaldblick

Berghaus Grindelwaldblick sits at 2109m on the Eiger's north flank, directly above Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland. Most hikers reach it in 2.5 hours from Grindelwald village by following the marked trail through Schwarzwaldalp. The hut also connects to routes from Wetterhorn and Schreckhorn base camps, making it a natural stop on multi-day traverses across this busy mountain region. The location offers views down the Grindelwald valley and access to high terrain in all directions.

The hut holds 66 beds across simple doubles and dorm rooms. Half-board is standard: hearty evening meals and breakfast fuel early starts. There's no WiFi, so you'll disconnect properly. The kitchen serves straightforward mountain cooking. Open from late spring through autumn (typically May to October), it closes during heavy snow and storm seasons. The hut operates a small shop for emergency supplies and energy food. Cold water is abundant; hot showers are available but cost extra.

Book by phone directly with the hut—they manage their own reservations. July and August fill 6–8 weeks ahead. June and September have more flexibility but still book 3–4 weeks out. July weekends are essentially fully booked by mid-June. The hut prefers reservations but takes walk-ins on quieter days if space exists. Phone ahead to confirm bed availability before arriving without a booking.
