Guggihütte

Guggihütte sits at 2,791m on the eastern flank of the Bernese Oberland, tucked into terrain that rewards walkers willing to climb properly. The approach from Grindelwald takes 4 to 5 hours on foot, gaining 1,500m via the Schwarzwaldalp and Gletscherschlucht. You can also reach it from Rosenlaui via the Alpiglen hut, a longer but less steep option. The hut serves as a solid base for traverses and peaks in this part of the range, and it sits on or near several good ridge walks.
Guggihütte is a small, utilitarian alpine hut run by the SAC. It has 24 beds across basic dormitory rooms. The hut provides meals and drinking water sourced from the mountain. There is no self-catering kitchen, so you eat what the hut serves or bring all your own food. The hut is open from June through September, weather permitting. The guardian can advise on conditions and route options for the surrounding peaks and cols.
Book directly by email with the hut. July and August fill up 8 to 10 weeks in advance, especially on weekends. June and September are quieter but weather at altitude is more changeable. Confirm opening dates before you travel, as late spring snow can delay the season. The hut lies on or near SAC hiking maps of the region—carry one.
