Marbach Brecca

Marbach Brecca sits at 1401m in the Bernese Oberland, above the village of Marbach in the Simmental valley. The hut is reached on foot from Marbach village in around 45 minutes via a well-marked trail that climbs steadily through mixed forest. This makes it accessible for a day hike or as the start of longer routes into the higher Bernese peaks. The location works well as a base for walking the surrounding ridges and alpine meadows.
The hut is run by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC/CAS) and offers simple accommodation with dormitory beds and private rooms. Meals are available, including hearty evening dishes and packed lunches for the next day's hike. The hut opens year-round, though winter visits require advance warning to ensure staff are present. Water and basic facilities are provided. This is a working mountain hut, not a hotel—expect straightforward comfort and good value.
