Hasenrain
2.2About
The hut sleeps 32 in mixed dormitories. Meals consist of a simple evening dinner and breakfast available each morning; bring lunch supplies or ask at booking. Drinking water is on tap. Toilets are flush. There are no showers. The hut is managed by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC/CAS) and opens year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions and hut staffing—check ahead if visiting December through February. Mountaineering parties use Hasenrain as a staging point for traverses and winter ascents.
Contact the hut by email to reserve. Book 4–8 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. The Säntis ridge draws weekend crowds during summer; midweek visits and shoulder seasons (May–June, September) have far fewer people. Winter ascents and traverses require advance coordination with the hut management to confirm staffing and conditions.
