Leglerhütte

Leglerhütte sits at 2273m in the Glarus Alps, above the Linthal valley. Most hikers approach from Linthal village (860m), taking the path via Fronalp—plan 4.5 hours of steady climbing through mixed terrain. The hut is also reachable from the Säntis massif to the north, giving you options for linking longer routes through this region.
The SAC-run hut has 54 beds across multiple rooms. The kitchen serves dinner and breakfast; bring lunch or ask about packed meals when booking. Water is available from the mountain spring. The hut operates year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions—contact ahead if you're planning a winter visit. The location works well as a base for day walks around the Säntis-Appenzell Alps, or as a staging point for multi-day traverses through eastern Switzerland.
Book by email or phone, especially for weekends and July-August when the hut fills quickly. For peak summer weeks (early July through mid-August), call at least 8 weeks ahead. Shoulder seasons (June and September) are quieter and easier to reserve. The hut operates on a first-come, first-served basis outside peak periods, but don't rely on walk-ins during school holidays.
