Spitzmeilenhütte

Spitzmeilenhütte sits at 2087m on the ridge between the Säntis massif and the Appenzell Alps in northeastern Switzerland. Reach it from Säntis (2502m) in 2.5 hours heading south across open terrain, or from Schäfler in 3 hours via a steeper approach. The hut works as a staging point for ridge walks and peaks in the region, with views across the Säntis to the Appenzell Alps.
The SAC-managed hut holds 50 beds across multiple rooms. Half-board and full-board meals are available; the kitchen caters to group bookings with advance notice. Self-catering is possible if you bring your own supplies. Water comes from a reliable source on-site. The hut operates year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions and avalanche risk—check conditions before heading up in December through March.
