About

Älpli sits at 1,926m in the Fürstensteig region of the Liechtenstein Alps. Reach it from Vaduz via the hamlet of Triesen and the Steg valley. Most hikers approach from Steg (about 2.5 hours on foot) or from the Fürstensteig trailhead via the Gapfahl route (3 hours). The hut works as a base for ridge walks toward Drei Schwestern and Naafkopf, or as a stop on longer traverse routes through Liechtenstein and into eastern Switzerland.

The hut has 16 beds across simple shared rooms. Meals are solid mountain fare—hearty soups, schnitzel, local cheeses. Breakfast and dinner are standard. There's no WiFi (pack accordingly). The outhouse is basic but functional. The hut operates year-round, though winter conditions on approach routes demand experience. Water comes from a spring. LAV members get a small discount on overnight rates.

Book directly with the guardian (Hüttenwart) in summer. July and August fill quickly on weekends—aim for 3–4 weeks ahead. Shoulder seasons (May–June, September) rarely need advance booking unless a large group is coming. Winter stays require a phone call to confirm access and avalanche conditions. The hut can provide half-board or bed-only rates. Bring cash; card payment options are limited.
