Baitel de Malgina

Baitel de Malgina sits at 1,880m in the Val Malgina valley, deep in Graubünden's eastern ranges. The hut is accessible via hiking from the Prättigau region or from the lower Val Malgina. Most hikers approach from Schlappin (take the PostBus from Schruns or Bad Ragaz) and hike 2–3 hours up the valley on a clear trail. The valley floor walk is steady but not steep, gaining roughly 600m elevation.
The hut offers 40–50 bed spaces split across dormitories and a few smaller rooms. Meals focus on hearty mountain fare: breakfast, packed lunches, and evening soup or stew. Water comes from the spring. The hut runs from June through September, closing in winter. There are no showers, and toilets are basic but functional. This is working mountain hut, not a hotel. The location makes it an excellent base for summer hiking across the ridges or for traverses linking the Prättigau to the Davos area.

June and September offer more flexibility. The hut does not take email reservations reliably; phone calls work best. Half-board (bed plus dinner and breakfast) is standard. Bring a sleeping bag or hire one on-site for a small fee.
