Bivacco Ai Fop

Bivacco Ai Fop sits at 2,230m in the Prättigau Alps, between the Schesaplana massif and the Foopass. The hut is a 2-hour walk from the Schruns valley floor (take the cable car up first if you're pressed for time) or a long day's climb from Partenen to the south. Most hikers approach from the Foopass trail, a straightforward 3–4 hour push from the Schruns side. The hut marks a natural waypoint on multi-day traverses linking the Vorarlberg peaks with Graubünden.
This is a basic mountain shelter, not a full-service hut. It sleeps around 20 people on mattresses in a single dormitory room. Water comes from a spring nearby; there's no kitchen or hot meals served. Bring a stove if you plan to cook, or eat cold food. The hut is open year-round but staffed only during the summer season (roughly June to September). Winter visits require self-sufficiency and careful avalanche assessment on approach slopes.
The hut is managed locally and bookings are handled informally. Contact the Schruns-Tschagguns tourist office to confirm access conditions and to arrange keys outside the summer season. Don't expect a caretaker in winter. The shelter fills quickly on summer weekends, so arrive early or plan a weekday visit.
