Refuge Alp D'Albion

Rifugio Alp d'Albion sits at 1600m in the Prättigau valley, deep in the Graubünden mountains. The hut sits on the main hiking route between Schäferalppass and Schäfersee. Most hikers approach from Schäfers in 2–3 hours, following the well-marked trail through rolling alpine meadows. The location works well as a base for exploring the upper Prättigau or as a waypoint on longer traverses through the region.
The rifugio is a simple, staffed mountain shelter with 4 beds. Expect basic accommodation only—you'll bring your own sleeping bag and mat. Drinking water is available on-site. The hut operates seasonally, typically from June to September, depending on snow melt and weather conditions. Food is not available, so plan meals carefully or bring sufficient supplies. This is genuine alpine shelter, not a service-focused destination.
Contact the hut directly before planning a visit to confirm current opening dates and bed availability. Summer weekends (June–August) can fill quickly. Few hikers venture this far into the Prättigau, so weekday visits offer better availability. Arrive early in the day if you're not pre-booking, as 4 beds disappear fast once word spreads in the hiking community.
