Refuge Alpe Piazza

Rifugio Alpe Piazza sits at 1,835m in the Lepontine Alps of Ticino, on the border between Switzerland and Italy. The hut is accessed from the Val Bedretto valley. From the village of All'Acqua, a hiking trail climbs 900m in 3–4 hours to reach the refuge. The route is well-marked and passes through alpine meadows and light forest. This is a straightforward ascent with no scrambling.
The refuge offers 22 beds across simple shared rooms. Meals are served—enquire about menu options when booking. Hot water and flush toilets are available. The hut operates as a summer base for walkers exploring the high passes and peaks of the region, including routes toward the Nufenen Pass and higher Alpine terrain. Opening dates depend on snow conditions; confirm before planning your trip.
Book by phone directly with the hut. Summer weekends and July-August fill quickly—contact at least 4–6 weeks ahead for these periods. Weekend visits outside peak season are usually available with shorter notice. The refuge welcomes both overnight guests and day visitors stopping for meals.
