Refuge Antonioli

Refuge Antonioli sits at 1785m in the Val Bregaglia, deep in the southeastern corner of Graubünden where the Swiss Alps meet Italy. The hut is accessible via hiking from Bondo (90 minutes, steep in places) or from Rossa in the Val Bregaglia (2.5 hours). A rough mule track connects it to the Barengrat hut and onwards to other peaks in the Bregaglia massif. Most parties use this hut as a staging point for ascents of Piz Badile (3308m) or as a rest stop on longer valley traverses.

The refuge is small and simple, with around 30 beds in dormitory rooms. Meals are hearty mountain fare—expect pasta, polenta, and cheese-based dishes—and the kitchen caters to dietary requirements if you notify them in advance. Hot showers are available. There's no WiFi, which suits the remote character of the place. The season runs from late May through September, depending on snow conditions and staffing. Summer weekends fill quickly.

Book directly by phone or email at least 4–6 weeks ahead for July and August. Spring and autumn shoulder seasons are quieter but bring variable weather. The hut lies outside the SAC network, so it operates independently. Bring cash (euros or Swiss francs accepted); card payments aren't always reliable at this elevation. The approach is exposed to rockfall in wet weather—check conditions before setting out.
