Refuge Giuseppe Garibaldi

Rifugio Giuseppe Garibaldi sits at 2,548m on the border between Lombardy and Veneto in the Brescia Alps. The main approach is from the north via Passo del Tonale (1,883m). From the pass, the hut is roughly 4 hours on foot across alpine terrain. You can also reach it in 5–6 hours from Rifugio Presena to the west, making it a natural stop on multi-day traverses of this region. The hut stands on the watershed between the Oglio and Adige drainages, positioning it well for ridge walking and peak-bagging in the surrounding massifs.
The CAI Brescia section runs this 98-bed hut year-round, though conditions limit winter visits severely. Summer demand peaks June through September. The refuge offers full-board meals and basic dormitory accommodation. Hot showers and heating are available. Mobile signal is unreliable. The kitchen serves hearty mountain food at reasonable prices. Expect communal dining and a functional atmosphere rather than creature comforts.
