Refuge Sandro Occhi All'Aviolo

Rifugio Sandro Occhi All'Aviolo sits at 1930m on the Aviolo Pass in the Brescia Alps, on the border between Lombardy and Trentino. Reach it from Schilpario (Lombardy side) in 2.5 to 3 hours via a steep, well-marked trail, or from the Trentino side via Temù in roughly 4 hours. Both approaches are straightforward day hikes from road access. The pass itself is a natural hub for traverses between the two valleys.
The refuge is a working mountain hut with 50 beds across shared dorms. Meals are available for guests and day-walkers—expect simple, filling food rather than refined cooking. Water and basic facilities are on-site. The hut opens year-round but operates at reduced capacity in winter; check ahead for December through February. Staff speak Italian primarily, with some English.
