Cabin Alpe di Lèis

Capanna Alpe di Lèis sits at 1801m on the Alpe di Lèis plateau in southern Ticino, reached via the Val Bavona from Robiei. The approach takes roughly 2 hours of straightforward hiking through open alpine meadow. The hut serves as a base for walking the Ticino high routes and accessing peaks across the region.
The hut has 14 beds split across simple dormitory rooms. Meals are served family-style—the warden cooks dinner and breakfast daily. There is no self-catering kitchen, so you must eat what the hut provides or bring your own cold food. No WiFi. Water comes from the spring on the alp. The hut operates year-round but staffing varies; contact ahead in winter months. Facilities are basic but functional: outdoor toilet, limited washing water.
Contact the hut directly before visiting to confirm current status and book a bed, especially in July and August when it fills quickly. The warden lives on-site and manages bookings informally. This is a working mountain pasture, not a recreational resort—expect a quiet, self-sufficient atmosphere suited to walkers willing to embrace simple mountain life.
