Cabin Buffalora

Capanna Buffalora sits at 2,078m in the Ticino Alps, serving as a base for hiking in the Val Bregaglia and surrounding terrain. The hut is reached from the village of Soglio, a 2-hour walk gaining 700m through forest and meadow. Most hikers approach from the Bregaglia Valley via the trail past Cascata dell'Isalla. The location works well for day walks to Piz Badile or multi-day traverses across the southern Swiss Alps.
The SAC/ASAC-managed hut holds 30 beds in mixed dormitories. Evening meals and packed lunches are available; bring cash as card payments are limited. The hut has running water throughout, hot showers, and flush toilets—a comfort advantage over many alpine huts at this elevation. The building operates year-round, though check conditions before winter visits. Meals require advance notice; confirm when booking.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email at least two weeks ahead. July and August fill quickly; aim for three weeks notice during peak season. June and September offer better availability with pleasant weather. The hut is quiet mid-week outside high summer. Confirm meal arrangements when you book, as the kitchen depends on advance numbers. Payment is in cash (Swiss francs) unless prior arrangements are made.
