Cabin Prodör

Capanna Prodör sits at 1,740m in the Val Prodör, a side valley off the Leventina in southern Ticino. Reach it from Rodi-Fiesso on the main valley road. The approach takes 2.5 to 3 hours on a clear footpath through mixed forest and alpine meadow. Most hikers combine it with routes into the Adula massif or onwards to other Leventina huts.
The hut is a simple, year-round operation with 42 beds in dormitory rooms. A caretaker prepares meals—expect hearty mountain food and local pasta dishes. Drinking water is available on site. There is no self-catering kitchen, so plan to eat what the hut provides or bring ready-to-eat food. Phone ahead to confirm the caretaker is present, especially outside peak season.
Book by calling directly. Summer weekends (July–August) fill quickly; aim to reserve at least 3–4 weeks ahead for these dates. Off-season visits need only a few days' notice. The hut operates year-round but confirm opening hours in winter, as staffing varies.
