Cabin Sementina

Capanna Sementina sits at 1,463m in the Bosco/Gurin valley of southern Ticino, in the Lepontine Alps. The hut is a 2-hour walk from Bosco village (accessible by PostAuto from Locarno). The route follows forest and meadow trails with moderate elevation gain. In winter, access is considerably harder and depends on snow conditions.
The hut is a simple, rustic building run by local volunteers. It has 20 beds in shared dormitories and serves basic hot meals—typically pasta, soup, and stews—plus drinks. There is no shower. Water comes from a spring. The hut operates year-round but is most reliably staffed weekends and summer months (June to September). Winter visits require advance warning to ensure someone is present. The setting offers views toward the Valle Maggia and good walking access to surrounding ridges and valleys.
Book directly with the managing volunteer group via the SAC/CAS hut database. Weekends in July and August fill quickly—aim for 2–3 weeks ahead.
