Refuge Monte Pravello

Rifugio Monte Pravello sits at 951m on the slopes above Locarno in Ticino. The hut is a 2-hour walk from Orselina (accessible by funicular from Locarno town centre), or a steeper 3-hour approach from the village of Monti. The location makes it a logical base for day hikes across the southern Alpine foothills, with direct access to trails heading toward Monte Cimetta and the Cardada plateau. This is low-alpine terrain—expect mixed forest and open ridge walking rather than high peaks.
The rifugio is a modest affair with capacity for around 40 people. Meals are served daily during summer months, typically simple pasta, soup, and local specialities. There is no shop at the hut, so bring water bottles and snacks if you're hiking onward. Basic dormitory beds are the norm; some private rooms may be available.
