Refuge Nigritella

Rifugio Nigritella sits at 1,491m in the Ticino Alps, accessible from Bosco Gurin via a 2.5-hour hike that gains 600m steadily through mixed forest. The hut lies on the main route between Bosco Gurin and Robiei, making it a practical overnight stop for hikers crossing between the Nara and Toce valleys. From the hut, you can reach Robiei dam in 3 hours or continue south toward Valle Maggia.
The refuge is run as a simple mountain hut with 20–30 bed spaces in shared dormitories. Meals are prepared daily—expect hearty mountain food rather than refined cuisine. The hut has basic toilet facilities and no shower. It operates year-round but is quietest October through April. Water comes directly from the nearby Nara stream. The setting is straightforward: this is a working hiker's hut, not a destination for comfort-seekers.
Book by phone directly with the hut. July and August are heavily booked; reserve at least 8 weeks ahead if you're planning a summer visit. In shoulder seasons (June, September), 3–4 weeks ahead usually suffices. Off-season visits need only 1–2 weeks' notice. The hut lies on the popular Nara-Robiei circuit, so avoid weekends in July if you want peace.
