Cabin Chalet-Neuf

Cabane Chalet-Neuf sits at 1,865m in the Val d'Anniviers, a side valley east of Sierre in Valais. The hut is accessible via a 2-hour hike from Grimentz, following the valley floor and then switchbacks through forest and alpine meadows. In winter, approach from Ayer instead when snow makes the direct route impassable. The surrounding terrain offers day hikes to local peaks and access to the Anniviers Trail system, popular with trekkers crossing multiple valleys.
The hut has 32 beds in shared dormitory rooms. Evening meals and breakfast are provided; there is no self-catering kitchen, so you eat what the guardian prepares. Drinking water is available on-site. Showers and basic toilets are standard. The hut operates year-round but staffing is lighter in winter months—phone ahead if planning a winter visit. The guardian can advise on route conditions and weather patterns affecting nearby peaks like Pic Chaussy (2,711m).
Book direct by phone or email at least 2 weeks ahead. July and August require 4–6 weeks' notice. The hut fills quickly during school holidays and on weekends during the hiking season (June to September). Winter bookings are flexible but confirm availability before starting your approach.
