Cabin de L'A Neuve CAS

Cabane de L'A Neuve sits at 2735m in the Diablerets massif above the Valais. Reach it from Vers-chez-les-Blancs (accessible by gondola from Villars-sur-Ollon) in roughly 2.5 hours of hiking. The route follows alpine terrain with steady elevation gain. Alternative approaches exist from the Diablerets side, but the Villars approach is most direct.

The hut is run by SAC's Section Diablerets and sleeps 28 people in shared dormitory rooms. Meals are served daily during the open season—expect simple, hearty mountain food. Drinking water is available at the hut. The cabin operates year-round, though winter access requires mountaineering skills and conditions can be severe. Basic heating and cooking facilities support self-catering if needed, though most hikers use the kitchen service.

Book by email or phone directly with the hut, especially for weekends and July-August when it fills quickly. Contact them 6-8 weeks ahead for peak summer dates. The hut is popular with parties doing multi-day traverses in the region, so mid-week visits in shoulder seasons (June, September) offer easier availability. Arrive by early afternoon to secure a good spot and allow time to acclimatise before dinner.
