Cabin de Mille

Cabane de Mille sits at 2473m in the Valais Alps, serving as a base for hiking routes across the region. You reach it from Grimentz in 2.5–3 hours via a well-marked trail that climbs steadily through alpine meadows and larch forest. The hut lies on the Tour des Combins hiking circuit, making it a logical stopping point between valley approaches and higher passes.

The hut accommodates 40 people in shared dorm rooms. Meals are provided at dinner and breakfast; bring your own lunch or eat packed provisions. Drinking water is available. There is no self-catering kitchen, so you depend on the hut's service. The hut typically operates from June through September, depending on snow conditions. Winter and shoulder seasons are variable—check current status before traveling.

Book directly by phone well ahead for July and August. July is busiest; aim for six weeks' notice. June and September are quieter and allow shorter lead times. Phone ahead even during quieter months to confirm a bed, especially if you are part of a larger group. Confirm your arrival time when you book so the kitchen can plan accordingly.
