Cabane FXB Panossière stands at 2,641m in the Valais Alps, serving as a base for hiking across this high terrain. Reach it from the village of Arolla by hiking roughly 3 hours northwest—the trail is well-marked and gains 800m. In winter, approach via a different route from Evolène if Arolla is snowbound. The hut sits on a working high-altitude plateau where marmots are common and views extend across the surrounding peaks.
The hut sleeps 75 people in mixed dormitory rooms. Meals are served daily—order dinner and breakfast the evening before. A self-catering kitchen is available if you prefer to cook. Water comes from a reliable mountain source. The hut operates year-round, though staffing and heating vary by season; confirm conditions before visiting in winter. A solar panel system supplements power.
