Chalet de la Têtaz

Chalet de la Têtaz sits at 1248m in the Chamonix Valley, on the north slope of Mont-Blanc massif. Reach it from Chamonix by hiking 2.5 hours via the Forêt de Chéserys trail, or from the Lac Blanc area in roughly the same time. The hut serves as a base for Mont-Blanc approaches and traverses of the Mont-Blanc range. Most climbers use it as an acclimatization stop or staging point rather than a destination hut.
The chalet has 30 beds across multiple rooms and provides hot meals on request. The kitchen is basic but functional. Water comes from a spring nearby. The hut operates year-round, though conditions in winter demand mountain experience. There is no shower. Accommodation is dormitory-style, and the atmosphere is working-focused rather than social. The guardian maintains the hut to support passing climbers, not tourists.
Book directly by phone or email with the guardian. July and August are busy months; reserve 4-8 weeks ahead. The hut is remote enough that walkins are possible outside peak season, but don't rely on beds in summer. Expect a simple, functional mountain environment. This is not a destination for leisure hiking.
