L'Aulp de Marlens

L'Aulp de Marlens sits at 1,657m in the Aravis Range on the French side of the Swiss-French border, accessible from the Vallée de l'Arly near Flumet. Most hikers reach it from the Parking du Nant Brun (allow 2 hours on foot) or from Col des Aravis (1.5 hours). The hut is also accessible by mountain bike and car in summer. This is pastoral Alpine terrain, not high peaks—expect rolling meadows, forests, and views across the Chaîne des Aravis.
The hut is a traditional mountain farmhouse offering simple accommodation and meals. It serves as a base for hiking across the Aravis chain and makes a logical overnight stop on longer traverses. Food is prepared on-site using local produce where possible. The hut operates year-round, though you should check conditions in winter. Capacity is modest—around 20 beds in dormitory and small private rooms—so advance notice is important during peak hiking season.
Book directly by phone as soon as you know your dates. July and August require booking at least 6–8 weeks ahead. The hut sits on popular GR routes, so weekend availability fills quickly even in June and September. Confirm access conditions and meals when you book, as staffing varies with season.
