Lohnerhütte SAC

Lohnerhütte SAC sits at 2,171m in the Valais Alps, accessed from the valley via the Lötschental. The hut serves as a base for hikers working the region between Fafleralp and the higher passes above the valley. Most parties reach it in 2–3 hours from Fafleralp, following marked trails through forest and open alpine meadow. Winter snow blocks access from November through April in most years.

The hut has 18 beds spread across simple dormitory rooms. Meals are prepared daily by the guardian and include dinner and breakfast; bring your own lunch or order packed meals in advance. The hut holds drinking water but no self-catering kitchen, so you eat what the hut provides or bring pre-cooked food. Toilet facilities are basic. The hut operates as a staffed refuge from May through October. Check conditions before visiting in shoulder months.
