Refuge Santino Ferioli

Rifugio Santino Ferioli sits at 2,264m in the Orobian Alps of northern Italy, near the Bergamo region. The hut serves as a base for hiking the ridge network between Val Seriana and Val di Scalve. Most approaches take 2.5–3.5 hours from valley trailheads; the most direct route starts from Passo della Gena (1,883m), which requires 1.5 hours on foot. Summer access is straightforward. Winter routes are steeper and may demand scrambling skills depending on snow conditions.

The refuge has 24 beds across multiple rooms. Half-board (dinner and breakfast) is standard; packed lunches are available to order. The kitchen serves simple mountain food—expect polenta, pasta, and local cheeses. The hut has basic running water and heating. Cell coverage is unreliable. The season runs from June through September, with occasional opening during Easter holidays and autumn weekends. Outside these dates, contact the managing section ahead of time.

Weekday visits in June and September are easier to arrange. The hut is popular with local day-walkers on weekends, which affects available bed space for overnight guests.
