About
This is a simple shelter rather than a full mountain hut. It provides basic sleeping accommodation for around 20 people in dormitory-style bunks, with elementary facilities including a small kitchen area and water supply. There is no resident guardian, so the hut operates on a self-catering basis. You'll need to bring your own food and cooking equipment, or use pre-stocked provisions. The hut is typically open from June through September, weather dependent. Winter access is possible but requires mountain skills and avalanche awareness.
Book directly with the Täsch-Zermatt tourist office or contact the local SAC section well ahead of your trip. July and August see the heaviest use. The shelter fills quickly on weekends during summer. Bring a sleeping bag and mat as bedding is not provided. Verify access conditions before departure, particularly in shoulder seasons, as snow can close approaches earlier or later than expected.
