Tällihütte

Tällihütte sits at 1,951m in the Valais Alps above the Mattertal valley. Reach it from Stalden-Saas in 2.5 hours via a steep forest path that climbs 800m. The hut works as a base for ridge traverses and ascents in the Fee and Saas valleys, particularly the Weissmies (3,038m) and Lagginhorn (3,153m). Winter access is harder but possible in stable snow conditions via a longer route from Saas-Grund.
Tällihütte is a small, simple hut run by the Saas-Fee alpine guide office and the local SAC section. It has 23 beds in mixed dormitories and offers evening meals, packed lunches, and basic breakfast. There's no shower. The hut runs year-round but gets minimal staffing in winter months—phone ahead if planning a winter visit. Water comes from a spring; it's reliable but you should carry backup supplies in drought periods.
Book directly with the hut by phone (call Saas-Fee tourist office for current number) or contact the SAC Saas-Fee section. July and August need booking 2–3 months ahead. Weekends fill quickly year-round. The hut is unguarded off-season, so confirm staffing before arrival. Bring cash; card payment is not always available.
