Glocknerhaus

Glocknerhaus sits at 2,132m on the eastern approaches to Großglockner, Austria's highest peak at 3,798m. Reach it from Heiligenblut in the Pasterze Valley: the standard route takes 3–4 hours and climbs steadily through alpine meadows and scree. The hut functions as a base for Großglockner ascents and shorter day walks across the surrounding ridges and valleys. This location puts you well-positioned for early starts on the main summit push.

The hut accommodates around 60 guests in shared dormitories. Meals are included with overnight stays—expect simple, hearty food suited to mountaineers. Hot showers are available. The kitchen serves breakfast before dawn during climbing season to support early departures. The hut operates year-round but is quietest in winter; most traffic arrives June through September. Staff can provide current route conditions and weather forecasts.
