About
Braunauer Hütte is run by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and sleeps around 60 guests in mixed dormitories and a few smaller rooms. The kitchen serves hot meals at lunch and dinner; half-board is the standard booking option. Water comes from the spring; the hut has basic facilities including outside toilets. It opens year-round but staff levels drop in winter—contact ahead if visiting November to March. The building itself is traditional, functional mountain shelter rather than luxury accommodation.
Book directly with the hut from May onward, especially for weekends and July to August. Phone or email them at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August visits. June, September and early October see fewer visitors and are easier to book. Winter visits require prior confirmation that the hut is staffed.
