Bürglalm
3.6About
Bürglalm is a traditional mountain farm hut run by the OeAV. It sleeps 35 people in mixed dormitory rooms with basic blankets and pillows. The kitchen serves simple evening meals and breakfast; bring cash, as card payments are unreliable at this elevation. There's no WiFi. Water comes from a spring. The hut stays open year-round, though winter access requires alpine skills and mountain experience. Summer is busy with ridge walkers and day-hikers from Dienten.
Book 2–3 months ahead for July and August weekends. Contact the hut directly by phone (few emails answered reliably). Arrive early in the day if you haven't booked—there's a small chance of bed space, but don't rely on it. The hut fills quickly during school holidays and in September when the weather is stable. Expect a genuine working farm, not a hotel: bring earplugs if you're bothered by early morning cattle or roosters.
