Klausalm
2.5About
Klausalm is an OeAV-managed working farm and inn, not a mountain hut in the technical sense. The main building holds 40 beds across simple double and multi-bed rooms. Meals are hearty and depend on the day's supplies—expect schnitzel, soups, and local dairy. The hut operates year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions; confirm before December trips. Water comes from the mountain spring. There's no electricity in the rooms. The terrace catches late sun and views toward the Hohe Tauern.
Book direct by phone at least 4 weeks ahead for weekends and July-August. The hut prefers telephone contact over email. Friday and Saturday nights fill quickly with Salzburg day-trippers and regional hikers. Spring and autumn are quieter and reliable for same-week bookings. The hut doesn't take credit cards—bring cash.
